Headed north last week to finish some tasks at hand, the road trip to Monson. The farmland in Piscataquis county is second to none, the soils are the best mother nature has to offer. Along the way we saw a huge farm tractor hauling a monstrous sized manure spreader right down the center of the highway, the farmer had many chores to complete and could of cared less about the traffic behind him, couldn't of agreed with him more. Stopped by my dad's grave site and introduced dad to Liz .. he was smiling..as was I. My dad was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. The large tree at his graveside was planted in the heat of the night by brother Mike and Red Mountain, policy at the time said no trees, but looks like someone overlooked. We visited Low 's covered bridge in Guilford and off to Monson Moosehead furniture, a visit with Monson community leaders and explored the chard's of slate at the quarry, lots of potential for the slate and Moosehead furniture....stay tuned.
